Together with a team of a lower semester course I started a urban gardening project to help refugees have a better start in Germany.
I searched the place to start the garden, created a logo and a name for representation purposes, searched sponsors for seeds and gardening tools and took the lead in the actual gardening work.
Together with my team I developed a plan whitch plants to plant in witch area. We also analized the sourrounding area of the garden and made a plan how to incorporate it to the project. We created a model to show how the area could be transformed to a place of encounter and community and presented our results on the "binoculus" exposition in february 2016.
For one season, the garden was growing and flourishing and more and more refugees, mostly children, were coming to our weekly garden activity and cared for the plants throughout the week.
After a year the project couldn't be continued, first due to construction work in the backyard, then due to a reallocation of the refugees to another shelter.
