For the Magdeburg exposition "Neue Sinnlichkeit" in Summer 2015, an interactive, transformative installation was developed. The exposition took place in a former prison, so we made a concept based on the desire of prisoners to unfold their creativity and to leave a mark, manifesting itself in sketches, sentences and poems they leave on the walls of their prison cells.
A cage like area was created with wool cords threaded through wooden planks hanging from the ceiling. In that area, we placed a 320 by 180 centimeter gray image on the wall.
The gray layer of the image can be scrached away with spoons hanging off the top of the frame, to
reveal the underneath layer of vivid colours. A poster on another wall invited the visitors of the exposition to draw or write whatever came to their minds.
Within a few days, earlyer than we expected, the wall was nearly full of sketches and greetings from different people.
