In this project I questioned the ergonomic sense of traditional shaped knife handles.
First, a survey with diferent test users was made to figure out what kind of existing knife handle worked best and which ergonomic problems would show up.
Also, the stamping method was applied to see witch parts of the hand have contact with a traditional knife handle and witch parts of the knife handle actually have contact with the hand.
These results and a comparison with the ergonomic rules for door handles lead to sketches with different approaches. After narrowing down to one version, a clay model was made. The result was then taken back to the drawing board and refined in Illustrator.
As temporary last step a PU foam model was made.
